Very good and still timely

I think the extent of knowledge most people know about Darwin is about evolution and even that is spotty. I just wanted to get a broad idea about the man and his theories and this book fit the bill. I feel like I can now speak about Darwin and actually know what I am talking about rather than make off handed commments with out fully realizing what I am talking about. I recommend this book to Atheists and people of faith since each of us could benefit from understanding what Darwin is about and the context of his theories.

This makes Darwin's concepts quick and easy to understand. This is a good read for anyone who isn't quite sure if they want to take on a more extensive book on Darwin's concepts just yet.

A train wreck

Jonathan Howard's little book on Darwin is a disaster. It is hard to know what Oxford U.P. were up to when they bypassed the professional expertise of historians of science and invited an animal physiologist to write the life of Darwin, but this decision could well have been justified by some practical insight brought to bear on well-known problems of 19th-century biology. However, Howard insists on rewriting "The Origin of Species" as a modern evolutionary text, searching out its meaning for today's biologists and explaining where (and why) Darwin got it wrong. A sense of history, for what it's worth, is pushed aside. Time and place are left outside the covers, the detailed work of Darwin scholars studiously ignored. Even the heart of his book is depressingly myopic: the core of the matter, says Howard, is Darwin's contribution to biology not his impact on Victorian Britain. So all the important bits the very topics that students and others want to know about are missing.

Buy this and you're on your way to a better job

There isn't anything that you can't learn after reading this book.It teaches you how to memorize precedents and laws if you want to be a lawyer,how to memorize names of drugs and what they do if you want to work in pharmacy,how to memorize stock symbols if you want to be a stockbroker,memorizing insurance premiums,memorizing computer codes if you work with computers,memorizing names and faces and the person's position, phone numbers and day and hour appointments if you're a sectetary, memorizing the prices for everything easily if you work in retail and so much more. This book is priceless and it's pity it's gone out of print.Buy it while you can.

Does a good job of zeroing in on the business angle of memory

If you read Harry Lorayne's other books on memory, you can apply it to business situations.

But I appreciated this book in that it particularly focuses on business situations in general and the memorizing of number information in particular.

Hopefully, this book will come back into print. I can see on this page that it's available from other sellers, and I would strongly suggest getting ahold of it if you feel you need it. You won't be disappointed.

One thing to remember -- these techniques require a lot of persistence, patience and sometimes plain old hard work. But it will be a good example of "working hard" so that eventually you work will be less like work! (Isn't THAT a doozy of a sentence?) :)

In other words, the effort you put in will be more than worth the effort, and will save you time and work in the long run.

What An Eye Opener!

As a "nice guy" myself, I could totally relate to Rom's pointers in what I've been doing wrong for decades. His advice for dating success is logical, intelligent, and doable. He seems to have keen insight into female and male nature. Unfortunately, it's too late for me, but if you're still a young guy (i.e. under 40), take Rom's advice, and, at the very least, women will hold you in higher esteem and not treat you with contempt, however veiled it might be.

A glance at "Musculoskeletal Assessment"

The book is a great overview of evaluations which is concise, accurate & well organized. My only concern is that it is overpriced for the amount of material.

Very helpful, organized, and concise reference book

I have often referred to this book in the past 7-8 years for a quick review and memory jogger on the various muscular-skeletal/orthopedic problems I faced as a physical therapist. I purchased this newest edition (updated with CD version) for our son who is finishing his residency/fellowship in rheumatology so that both he and his patients might benefit from the same organized and helpful resource. The size of this book (pocket sized) is very deceptive as it is loaded with important helpful information/review/suggestions for treatment.
