An interesting and very public form of art with 50 artists from around the world

'The Art of the Mural Volume 1: A Contemporary Global Movement' by Shane Pomajambo with a foreword by Carlo McCormick is a survey of building murals from all over the world. This book is the first part of a 4 part series.
The 50 artists in this volume come from all over. Each artist, in alphabetical order, has a brief bio and examples from their work. There are also some thoughts from some of the artists. Some started as graffiti artists and others came at the artform from more traditional avenues. In order to be included, these artists had to be working as full time muralists.
The building styles present challenging canvases, and I'd love to have seen some of these in progress. Perhaps future books will do that. The styles are everything from thought provoking to whimsical. Most have figures, but some are just geometrical designs. The artist, title and city are listed for each mural, and the book has 400 examples of this work. I had a great time looking at all the details and odd things included in these murals.

A Brilliant, Well Written Book (Not Just for Art Students or Your Coffee Table)!!!

Such a gorgeous book, rich with color and imagination. This is a wonderful book with pics of murals all over the world and explanations of the artist and their works. I've lived in Philadelphia for a while and presently Los Angeles. These murals are all over the place in both cities. I think that it's great that artists can express themselves this way and it breathes new life into parts of towns that were at one time run down...not so lively. I think that there should be artists being able to paint murals all over. I love them! Great book. It'll be more than just a coffee table book. You'll want to go through the book and study each painting. I cannot wait until the other volumes come out!

Great pictures and optimal choice of artists. Some of them are very well known here in Berlin, others were perfect strangers to me, but not anymore.
Bellissime foto e grande scelta degli artisti. Alcuni di questi sono molto famosi, anche qui a Berlino, altri erano invece totalmente sconosciuti per me, ma non pi�.
